Day 10

Shifting Couches

Today marks my last day at my good friend Richard Crowley’s. Starting tonight, I will be crashing with another great friend, Aubrey Sabala.

About Aubrey

Taken from her personal blog Aubrey Sabala Dot Com: “Aubrey Sabala is a writer living in San Francisco, learning the lay (and ways) of the hilliest place imaginable. She misses her big three-bedroom home in Atlanta, her friends there, the climate but not her crack smoking next-door neighbors. An only child, you’ll either nod your head in easy recognition or be surprised by this revelation; each reaction is as common as the other.”

Meetings

Today I participated in a meeting with Ron, Stephanie, and Tyler and I know it’s because I never worked at a company where I would go to meetings, but meetings are awesome! I am sure once that becomes a daily practice I’ll get sick of them, but for the time being I love getting emails telling me about upcoming meetings.

Lunch

Went to a great sushi place for lunch today with a bunch of the interns, Mauricio, and Jeff Hodsdon from Digg. So far I am loving the food in San Francisco. My last three meals have been Korean BBQ, Burritos, and Sushi… perfect.

Dodgeball

Today is a much anticipated Revision3 vs. Digg dodgeball game. Playing with everyone was super fun, but I feel bad because I am quite intense when it comes to competition. I’m sure I have turned some people off over at Digg (and maybe at Revision3!). Either way it was a great time, and I am proud to say that Revision3 creamed Digg (although a lot of memebers from both teams were missing today).

Excited for tomorrow

Tomorrow should be a great day. First, my boy Damon Berger will finally be coming back to the office after his long business trip. I am also super excited to see my good friend Rob Sandie who is coming into San Francisco for a bit.

Dinner

Had the pleasure of grabbing dinner with my good friend Jessica Mah. What did we eat? Korean BBQ. Was quite the experience. We ordered the “for 2,” which gave us raw chicken and beef. It was up to us (read: Jessica) to cook the food on the mini charcoal grill provided to us. It was definitely an experience! Me and Jessica discussed all sorts of things including the obvious topics such as business and social media.

Day 8

Last Night

Last night was a good time. Started off by having dinner with Justine Ezarik, Kelly Sutton, and Faruk Ates. Had some Pad Thai and made our way to the Buzz Anderson WWDC party. Was great to see Kevin, Melody, Tantek, Trammell, Scott Beale, Jake Marsh and others.

Today

Today was my second day at the office here at Revision3. Everything nice that I said yesterday holds true going through day two. The culture is absolutely what I was hoping for and I found myself wanting to get back to work while out for lunch (a rare feeling for an employee).

Some work I did

Today I focused in on working on some social media analytics. Can’t get too deep into what I was working on, but needless to say it was something that was right up my alley. Props to Jim and Ron for giving me something fun / worthwhile to work on.

Visiting the Digg offices

For lunch me and Tyler made our way to the Digg offices. It was my first time visiting the place and I am glad that I had the opportunity to do so.

Lunch

After a quick tour I went out to lunch with Tyler, Joe Stump (digg), Daniel Burka(digg), Jeff Hodson(digg), Brian Shaler(bitgravity), Matt(digg), and Natalie(digg). Great company and good food :)

After work

After work (5pm) a bunch of interns got together to play some Call of Duty 4 in the conference room.

Here is some footage Mauricio shot: “The Interns are helping Veronica work.”

Tonight

Grabbing some dinner with Richard Crowley and Mike Malone (Pownce). Pretty tired, but I’m thinking about hitting the Ars Technica and Gizmodo WWDC party. If you want some more info on that one, check it out here.

My First Day as a Revision3 Intern

Revision3 - the online tv network

How it started

I got into the Revision3 offices right around 9:00 am (right on time) and immediately I felt right at home. While walking up to the door I ran into Glenn who does video production and editing at Revision3. After a few seconds of conversation the glorious doors opened and I was greeted by my friend, and fellow intern Kelly Sutton. After walking in and meeting with Grace, I had the pleasure of filling out some paper work before my time at Revision3 truly started.

Taking the tour

Friend and fellow intern Tyler Howarth gave me the “grand” tour of Revision3’s offices. It was great to see the offices and studio in person. Revision3 truly does a wonderful job optimizing their space in the studio. From what I have seen online in terms of tours on video I thought the studio was monstrous! Let me tell you, the space isn’t nearly as large as I expected!

The culture

Everyone that I have met / worked with / hung out with has been super cool and ridiculously friendly. There is an air at Revision3, one of confidence, creativity, and general happiness. Everyone is very laid back, but at the same time focused on working hard and accomplishing goals.

Lunch

Had lunch with Tyler and Kelly at a place called “The New Spot.” If you are in the San Francisco area and enjoy mexican food, this is a must visit. I had the “super baby” grilled steak burrito and it was fantastic! Here is the information for “The New Spot.”

What I did

With both of my direct advisors away (Damon Berger and Ron Richards) I didn’t have the advantage of having complete direction during my first day. Nonetheless I received plenty to do via the wonderful tool that is email. Can’t get too detailed about what I was working on, but it revolved around the creation of additional content. It was surreal doing research and putting together notes for something that will most likely come to fruition here at Revision3.

Listening to / watching Revision3 programming

I also took the liberty of listening in on a bunch of Revision3 programming. I have to admit (shamelessly) that I haven’t watched every single episode of every single program provided by Revision3. It was nice to “catch up” with most of Revision3’s programming. The reason I am so far behind is that I traditionally do not consume online video content (I don’t even watch my brother Gary Vaynerchuk’s Wine Library TV!) I love online video content, and truly believe it is the future, but I tend to focus on my own work rather than watching the work of others. Either way it was nice to see how I consumed each and every show, and form opinions on user behavior based on my own experiences.

Exciting news around the office today

Today marked the running of the “Gary Vaynerchuk coming to Revision3″ promos. The news broke that Gary was coming, and the response has been great! (check it out here and here) Big ups to the Revision3 crew for bringing Gary in, also major props to the crew who helped make the promo and Mauricio Balvanera for his work editing the promo. Check out the promo here!

Lasting impressions

Personally, I couldn’t have imagined a better start to my Revision3 stay. Met wonderful people and got to do some great work. Looking forward to seeing Jim, Prager, Damon, Ron, Kevin, and Jay in the coming days.

Day 4

Last Night

Last night was pretty interesting. It started off with me showing up to the College Humor party dramatically under-dressed! After that I went out and watched the Lakers vs. Celtics game with a bunch of the Revision3 crew and Alana Taylor from Mashable.

Today

Early start to the morning as I had to catch a 9am flight to Chicago. I think the highlight of that trip was the fact that my plane was delayed 40 minutes because a bag of chips got into the engine. Sigh.

SEED

SEED Conference

Right now I am at SEED Conference waiting to hear Gary talk. Jim Coudal is on stage now and is doing a wonderful job. Got to meet Jason Fried from 37signals, along with Sarah, and Sam.
