Ask The Community: Would You Pay For a Twitter “Pro” Account?

Everybody knows that Twitter needs a business model. Everybody also knows that Twitter has tested out ads in Japan. Knowing this information…
Would you pay for a Twitter “pro” account? If so, how much? What kind of features would you expect to be added on? Will this be enough to keep Twitter on its path of success?

Yup. $3/month. No ads, fewer outages, another layers of controls over who/how I display tweets.

Would you pay for a Twitter “pro” account? I would.
If so, how much? This is a much more difficult question than the first. I think you can’t go wrong with the $24.95 a year model. For some reason, it is never that hard to give up twenty five bucks a year.
What kind of features would you expect to be added on? First and foremost, if I was paying for TwitterPro, I would expect 99.99% uptime. All too resently I am seeing the 500 error; that would NEED to stop. Also, I think maybe some sort of designation on the public feed that you are a TwitterPro user (i.e. A light blue box around your tweets or something).
Will this be enough to keep Twitter on its path of success? I think Twitter has an interesting road ahead of them. Their open API is a double edged sword; it makes everyone’s use of Twitter easier, but it also keeps people away from twitter.com! If you look at Twitter Japan and their ads, that might not be as successful here in the United States. A pro version would definitely get money coming into Twitter without the need for users to visit twitter.com.

I would like to pay if It meant that I could tweek the privacy options to my liking. I would also like for them to make a desktop client. I honestly haven’t noticed any ads as Jim Storer pointed out, but I overall love Twitter and would definitely be willing to pay for the service if they added more options for user customization.
Love your site AJ, keep up the great work.

I disagree, I love how twitter is open to everyone and free to use.
One of the reasons I love it so much is because it puts everyone on an even playing field. If people were unhappy with the current system maybe then it would be a different story, but I’ve only heard positive things from even the people who post 10 times a day.

I would pay for a twitter pro account.. The one feature I really want is the ability to track words/phrases on the web or with a desktop client instead of only SMS and IM.

I might pay. I would need to see better uptime for donors (like going to donors only mode when there’s a small problem), the ability to put followers and followed people into groups, and the ability to send files, links, photos, etc. But isn’t that just Pownce?

I’m pretty new to Twitter, but if I go off of past experiences with services that offer “Pro” versions I would have to say no. Even if it’s a couple bucks a month, I am more likely to look for a similar service that is free.
I think that’s why apps from companies like Google and Zoho have been so successful.
I agree with previous comments that the reliability needs a boost first in order to validate a Pro version.
