Why You Shouldn't Use Free Blog Services

You are associated with spammers

A recent study done by Microsoft has shown that 75% of blogspot blogs are spam. Additional research done by Matt Millenweb, one developer of Pingomatic, states that 80% of "spammish" pings come from Blogspot blogs. Courtney Tuttle, a blogger who knows how to make money online, claims "it is harder to gain the trust of the search engines while using them. However, once you do they will rank as well as any other type of site."

Readers naturally trust domains over free blogs

From my personal experience I am more likely to listen to the advice of a blogger who has his own domain than a blogger who uses a free blog hosting service. The main reason for this is because the first blogger actually took the time to buy a domain and establish a brand while the other blogger simply set up a quick free blog.
