5 Twitter Bots Worth Using

Twitter Bots can make the Twitter experience that much more effective. Here is a random list of bots that you may or may not enjoy:

CNN Breaking News

CNN Breaking News (14,939 followers) - This twitter bot feeds you breaking news headlines from CNN. Unfortunately, the tweets come without direct links, so if you want to continue reading, head on over to CNN.com. If you are a news junky, this is a must follow.

ESPN Top Stories

ESPN (1,262 followers) - This twitter bot feeds you top story headlines from ESPN. Unlike the CNN bot, each and every tweet comes with a link to the full story. If you are a sports nut (like me) this is definitely a bot to follow.

Woot

Woot (6,919 followers) - This twitter bot notifies you of the Woot item of the day. If you are Woot regular you know how quick some items can sell out. Having this bot stops you from having to visit Woot.com 20 times a day, it even notifies you when the item of the day sells out! The only downside to this bot is the fact that it looks like it hasn’t been working for the last 8 days (otherwise it’s great!)

This is a great bot to use if you are looking to stir up interesting conversation, grab data from your followers, or if you are simply looking for answer to a complicated question. * Disclaimer: I am a part of the answerme project

    Great post. We’ve made lots of Twitter bots at Digitas; we use Twitterfeed.com and set up an rss/atom feed. I think these sites would do alot better to have folks ‘in charge’ of twittering stuff worth looking at. CNetnews is one of the early Twitter bots; notice they are only following 2 people. If there was a human element; following people back; mixing real tweets with the auto-posts I bet they’d have a lot more followers.

    I will add the CNN and the LOLcats. A little sanity and insanity to my tweeting. The insanity is of course the news :)

    @Dean - I think that’s a great point. Adding a human element to any service online makes it that much better!

    @Rhonda - good mix :)

    I follow quite a few of the blogs for CNN and other publications to get the latest feeds to my phone for news. I also subscribe to most of the tech blogs as well to see what is being developed. I’m curious on how to obtain more followers. I created a feed for the latest deals/coupons, but am not sure how to create more Value for users that utilize twitter. If people would like to follow me: http://twitter.com/cheapcheapcheap

    I’ll also follow you too. Thank you,
